Fun with Festive Fruit – Scented Christmas fruit Hanging Garland
I’m always asked how to make these festive little fruit hangers. They are delightful and bring the scents of Christmas into your home. They are so easy to make grown-ups and children will enjoy making theses as lovely little gifts for family members and friends.
Here’s my easy-peasy step-by-step guide
1. The Ingredients
- Dried red and green apple slices, orange slices and lime slices
- Dried whole oranges and limes
- Cinnamon sticks
- String and a piece of wire
2 Fold the string in half, tie the cinnamon sticks to the bottom of the open end.
3 Bend wire in half and thread it through the string.
4 Use the wire like a needle, start threading the fruit down wire and onto the string, slide down the string on to the cinnamon sticks.
5 Continue to thread alternative slices of fruit down the garland.
6 Thread the whole fruit and fruit slices until you have the desired length of garland and then finish off by knotting the top just above the last slice of fruit leaving a loop for hanging.
You can now add a bow or rustic gift tag if your giving this as a gift.
Other items you can used dried chillies, anise, cones as an alternative.
Festive ribbon, lace, Tartan ribbons, rustic buttons, small sleigh bells can be used as finishing decorations to make them extra special, especially if you are making these as gifts.
Small twig bundles, cord wire balls, natural jute balls, can also be used along the garland.
Happy crafting
